The good news is that Team Lightbringer has awoken me from my blogging coma. The bad news is that this will probably land me on some sort winger nutjob watch list that I haven’t yet made.
Back on Election Night ’09, I strained a few relationships with some of my enlightened liberal friends when, soaked with wine and frustration, I posted a pic of the new president that likened him to Hitler. I’d been disturbed by the history then-Senator Obama and his handlers had of outright suppression of any dissent. Call me old-fashioned, but I’m a sucker for a well used First Amendment. The picture was, admittedly, a petulant reaction. It also turns out that I was completely off base with the comparison to Hitler.
Stalin probably would have been a better fit.
In a lifetime of being highly suspicious of, and creeped out by, the government this is perhaps the creepiest and most un-American thing I’ve seen come from the feds. Maggie Thurber details it very well in the above-linked post but I’ll summarize it for you:

Yes, yes, I’ve been known to be quite free and easy with the hyperbole at times. I also like cheese at all hours of the day. There, I’m done with the personal glimpses (I do have some pictures available of both me and cheese available for anyone who wants to see them, however.)
Sorry kids, you can turn this one every which way and it is exactly as it appears. The White House is asking American citizens to snitch on their fellow citizens and, more than likely, get them on a Rahm Emanuel no-no list. Can’t “Bush’s Fault!” your way out of this one, Obama supporters. This is “Hope & Change them into people who inform to the government on their neighbors.”
Blue Collar Muse explains the progressive frenzy to create an informant class. Far more optimistic than I, he posits that the White House might have a good explanation for this. Of course they do, they want to create a database of people who disagree with them. Where we go from there is anyone’s guess but I’ve got a few ideas. The only “good” explanation is also the most disturbing.
You can all say I’m overreacting if you want, I’ve been accused of that before. But the time for overreaction is now, not when it becomes obvious to those who won’t believe the worst until it’s moved in and started using the good dishes.
Let’s have some fun with this and bombard flag@whitehouse.gov with emails. Turn yourself in. Turn your spouse in. Turn your bearded dragon in. Skip Murphy wrote a nice, thoughtful email that asks “flag” some very important questions. You may want to follow his lead.

I reported my 85-year old mother to flag@whitehouse.gov and asked them to “straighten her out”. She said she was against euthanasia for the elderly in lieu of costly medical treatment.
I’m going to go out and stick that damned whitehouse nazi-email-addy into every spam site I can. All that crap that says “send me updates” and whatnot.
There’s one I hadn’t thought of yet, Greg. I’ve been forwarding things from my spam folder, though. The White House is now really hooked up on “how to make money from home” information.

Unbelievable! I cannot believe six months into his presidency and we are being told to “report” people for having a different opinion!
And I thought I lived in the land of the FREE!

I actually couldn’t believe this story when I heard about it. This issue is not about “left or “right”, OR Sen. Cornyn. It’s about the AUDACITY of the Obama administration asking U.S. citizens to “rat out” other U.S. citizens who have a different point of view from the administration’s. To what purpose is this “request” from Obama? What will they actually DO with this information? It reminds me of the communists and the KGB or the Third Reich’s methods of obtaining info on “dissenters”. This administration is Un-Freakin’-Believable!!
I propose everyone sending the pdf file of the HR3200 to the flag@whitehouse.gov email address. It is by far the fishiest, smelliest, foulest thing I’ve seen in 50 decades.

If this is not KGB, I don’t know WHAT is! And believe me, I lived THAT for almost 30 years, until I came to the land of the free!!!
My first thought was also to add their address to my list and THEN, maybe (this would for sure help the unemployment!) the army of people “gainfully” (and paid with OUR money) employed by the government to read our emails, will get a chance to finally hear the truth and see the light!
I also liked this suggestion and should most definitely be forwarded to the White House:

In reading your post I find I happen to disagree with you. Hitler fit quite well thank you very much.The National Socialists are after all who Obama seems to be patterning his goals and actions after so far. And besides if I’m going to rat out a fellow American for telling the truth about Obama’s “I Don’t Care About You Health and Kill Granny Plan” I want to be known as a Block Warden as they were in Hitler’s day. It has a certain official ominous ring of power to it, don’t you think?
I have submitted a few liars names myself already, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, B.Boxer. D. Fienstein. Well they the only ones I’ve caught lying so far other than the Liar in Chief Obama himself.
