Unfortunately, the first two installments of this were lost in the server move debacle a few months ago. It all started with a top-down coordinated effort by the Obama transition team, teachers unions and public education officials to tell the youth of America why the new president was the coolest kid on the block. Taking the cue like a perfect union automaton, my daughter’s 5th grade teacher then sent an email detailing the bash (including a potluck brunch!) they were going to have for the inauguration, complete with the lesson plans distributed by Team Lightbringer.

Had there been big elementary school love-fests during the inaugurations of George W. Bush?

**crickets**

OK, had any incoming administration ever had the audacity (couldn’t help myself) to begin directly indoctrinating school kids through its life partners, the unions?

“Can I get a Hammer & Sickle in the house?!?!?.”

Now, as my daughter begins middle school, she’ll be treated to a kickoff speech by the president himself! Better yet, the Secretary of Education has taken time out from the task of asking for more money and delivering fewer results to send along some downloadable talking points to help mold the little minds.

The public education system in America has served as one of the greatest bullshit shields for the Democrats these past twenty years or so. They get to pluck heart strings with tales of just being concerned for the children while putting an indoctrination network in place. The green agenda at my kid’s elementary school was talked about more on the first day last year than anything actually having to do with education.

This post is not the place for a detailing of the workings of the indoctrination system. I’ll just deal with the speech and talking points.

The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning. He will also call for a shared responsibility and commitment on the part of students, parents and educators to ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs and live rewarding and productive lives as American citizens.

That’s from Secretary Duncan’s letter. All noble ideas, right?

Sure. But also things that should be communicated at home. Teaching and parenting are separate. OK, were separate.

The letter itself isn’t as creepy as the discussion points download. Rather than just let the kids enjoy a little “rah-rah” from the President of the United States, they want to make sure that the Borg teachers get message drilled into the brains of the future faithful.

Here are a few gems from “Pre-K to 6″ notes.

Why is it important that we listen to the President and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress or the governor? Why is what they say important?

I need a shower already.

What is the President trying to tell me? What is the President asking me to do?

These first two examples are indicative of what’s wrong with this representative republic these days. The power drunk elected elitists in Washington believe that it’s more important that we listen to them. That’s the reverse of how it works. Yes, even for the president. True, some executive decisions need to be made but this letter began with a question about why it’s important to listen to ALL elected officials. It’s not.

Students can record important parts of the speech where the President is asking them to do something. Students might think about: What specific job is he asking me to do?

In case they didn’t get it the first time. This isn’t a suggestion, it’s a brain-washing manual.

The reinforcement of the “What does he want me to do?” crap continues. There’s also a contest and some more “suggestions” for lesson plans.

“So what’s the big deal Stephen?”

This:

Extension of the Speech: Teachers can extend learning by having students

Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.

Their goals?

It’s not paranoia if it’s actually happening.

It just makes me want to sit around the fluorescent glow of a “green” campfire and sing Kumbayah. Before someone goes Postal and slaughters any NEA member/comrade he can find (while I’m pointing out their hidey-holes).

    Egad.

I don’t want my pre-k to 6th grade aged kids being told what to do by elected officials. That is my job as a parent. I will communicate what I think is appropriate for them based on my relationship to them as their parent. I do not want or desire the any government official to try to fill my role.

The education system is there to educate, not indoctrinate. I know many will not be bothered by this little speech and will think that I am overreacting. Unfortunately, many of the same parents that want the government to solve all of their problems also gladly give the role of parenting to the same government.

Our daughter has other things to do on Tuesday and oops I’m afraid she won’t be at school. :-) We keep her educated about what conservatism means, why we want it versus liberalism. That’s OUR business, NOT the school’s. She knows these things and won’t be the easy mark as they try to undermine our beliefs that many of the other kids will be. But still, on principle she won’t be there. If you pay attention you’ll see that the indoctrination goes much further in the public school system than this speech on Tuesday. You better believe kids are barraged daily with beliefs that directly contradict ours, yet the kids are required to study it, write about it, even sing about it while being intimidated by their teachers to go along with it. Yet when I raise the devil at the school they get wide-eyed and tell me I’m their first complaint. I actually believe that’s true because I’ve seen myself how apathetic parents are these days, and that makes for awfully fertile ground for anyone to come along and plant their seeds, doesn’t it? No to the indoctrination of our kids, no to Obama Nazi Youth.
